Determining the quantity of ash (cremains) you will receive from the pet crematory is difficult as crematory service processes vary. A general guideline is about one cup (8 ounces or 15 cubic inches) per 20 pounds. We freely offer exchanges if you need a different sized pet urn. Never install loose ash cremains in any urn - they should always be placed in a baggie or ziplock.
Example- thirty (30) pounds would require an urn with at least 12 ounces or a 22 cubic inch volume capacity. This can vary slightly. Let us know if you are still not sure. We can not be responsible for the quantity of ash or cremains which are received from a particular crematory. Our capacities are actually very conservative. Keepsake pet urns are used to gift among several family members so each can share in the preservation of the memory of a beloved pet. Keepsake urns for pets are able to hold larger amounts of cremains fur, dried flowers from a funeral arrangement or a sample of soil from a sacred burial ground. Keepsakes open via a screw on lid and are filled quite easily. The urn pendants can be filled via a supplied funnel or a small amount place on a drop of glue.
